This is not a trial and sentence...it is an execution

First...read this article...

I wasn't even born when the alleged offences were supposed to have occurred.
There will not be a shred of evidence other than that which his been conjured up solely by memory - one of the most unreliable sources of witness there can be.
And whatever happened to "Public Interest"? To put an 85 year old man on trial and ignore his dwindling health (which, just for reference, does actually make him a vulnerable person) for offences that apparently happened 50 years ago is so lacking in humanity it makes me feel utterly sick to the stomach. Totally fucking sick to the stomach. I am offended to even be associated with this travesty of a country that feels it necessary to effectively murder one our Navy Veterans at the behest of these...murderers.
I believe whole-heartedly in the protection of children and I fight for that all the time. But these are not children! These are cold, callous adults who have sat on supposed abuse for their entire lives.
So this is what I think...this should be the trade off.... If someone was abused that long ago and feel it so necessary that their abuser be brought to task after 50 years, it is time we started charging them for their neglect of the protection of decades of children. They have allowed so many other children to be abused by this alleged monster - just like all those who claim they "always knew" what a monster Jimmy Savile was and did NOTHING to stop him.
We live in a country where if you see a fire exit that is blocked and you walk away from it without unblocking it or reporting, you become liable for that blockage. But apparently it is okay, it is fine, for you to know for years the identity of a child abuser and do nothing to stop them. How can it be right that it is against the law to risk someone tripping over but not be illegal to let someone roam free to rape and abuse children? Because that is what such "victims" do when they leave their alleged abuser to roam free and then accuse him only when they know he is too old, too frail, and unable to defend himself.
And where is the CPS in this? What on earth is the "Public interest" in charging this frail 85 yr old? And even if you insisted that there was...what interest is served by a 20 year custodial sentence? Who exactly is protected by this? What is achieved? Even if we accept the guilty verdict (which I do not) what is gained by locking up an 85 year old man?
I thought we had ended the use of Capital Punishment in this country. I know of men a quarter of this man's age who are seriously contemplating suicide having fallen victim to similar false allegations. So what do you expect will happen to this man? He has nothing to live for; no chance for rehabilitation; no hope that is tangible that he will ever see release (or at least the chances are very low). In all likeliness - let us be honest - his mind will give in, quickly followed by his body.
And we would have killed him: whether as people who actively sought to destroy him, or as the rest of us for not standing up against the injustice.
This is not a trial and sentence...it is an execution.
As the great Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky said:
“You can judge a society by how well it treats its prisoners”.
Well, this is our society judged and it is time to either hang our heads in shame or damn well do something about it. "Do What?" - you might ask. If nothing else...join in with my #LearnMyName campaign.
It took 27 Years to get justice for the Hillsborough victims. This latest victim of injustice will be dead in 27 years - I'd be surprised if he lasts 27 months. After all - life is long...but execution is swift.
